I've found "DAC3484 Questions" topic on forum, but it didn't contain the questions I would like to ask. It also looked "closed" to me, so I opened this thread, I hope it doesn't go against the forum rules.
I'm doing a PCB with FPGA Spartan 6 and DAC3484. As a reference I'm using schematics of DAC3484 EVM. I would like to ask a few questions regarding pins functionality. (Also I'm new to DAC and PCB in general).
Pins SDO (B27), SDIO (A30), SDENB (B28), SCLK (A31):
SDO, SDIO, SDENB, SCLK are connected to the SN74AHC541PWand then to the FT245RL. What is the reason for connecting them to the octal buffers? I know little about buffers, but the main idea is to store temporary the data. Can’t they be connected directly to FT245RL?
I’m using an FPGA, so can I connect SDO, SDIO, SDENB as well as SCLK directly to FPGA pins?
Also if I use a 3 Pin mode in which SDIO is a bidirectional pin can I live SDO unconnected?
