Hi Jim After talking with my coworker, I am incorrect in its use. We will not be using it for verification but we plan to move calibration after the downsampler inside the ADC. This is why we need the coefficients. Layne

Hi Alan, If your objective is to capture and analyze the ripple frequency content of the DC/DC, then you will have to sample at much higher than 300KHz (at least 600KHz). If all you want to do is capture the average DC value on the output, you could probably use a lower sampling rate. If you can provide any detail on what the end goal of your application is, we may be able to recommend a couple different parts to look at.

Forum Post: RE: ADS1298 Writing Registers with Daisy-Chain

Dear Alex, Again thank you and so sorry for deviating from the original idea. Thank you for the links for the thread, they are very informative. From your answers, I picked up the following points. 1. Both cascade and daisy chain connection is possible using the internal clock. 2. The internal oscillator used in the breathing circuit is different from the internal clock of the ads129xr. Even if the ads129xr is configured as a slave, it is possible to use the internal ICG circuit for respiration. 3. RLDINV can be tied to AVDD. Could you confirm the above points are correct. Then I have still two questions: 1. I am using ads1298 as the master device in the daisy chain / cascade connection ( ads1298 as the source of the CLK signal). I intend to use theRLD drive and the internal reference signal (2.4V). From the data sheet RLDINV and RLDOUT are shunted via 1M Resistor and 1.5nF cap. While the RLDIN is shorted to the RLDOUT. Then what is the value of the RLDREF?? Altium generates error when it is left open and the data sheet doesn't say anything about this pin. 2. The ads1294R is the slave in the daisy chain. I used it merely for impedance measurement. I have connected all unused pins to AVDD through current limiting resistors (say 100K). RLDINV is shorted to the RLDINV of ads1298 . My guess is the RLD of the ads1298 is used for both devices. Then what is the input for RLDIN, RLDOUT and RLDREF pins? Again sorry it the questions are repetitive and unrelated to the specific thread. Kind regards!!

Forum Post: ADS1299: Schematic and more questions

Part Number: ADS1299 Hello, We have a schematic version that actually works pretty good. Nevertheless, we have some questions to continue with our investigation. 1) Input filter. In the datasheet (page 68) says that the filter capacitor in the input stage (Cfilt) should be connected as differential to obtain better common mode rejection. But we have noticed that in the EEG Front-End Performance Demonstration Kit schematic does not have the capacitor in differential mode. It is connected to ground. Why do you have made this choice? 2) Bias filter. The bias filter has aproximately 50hz of frequency cut off in the EEG Front-End Performance Demonstration Kit and 150Hz is recommended in the ADS1299 datasheet. Why the change? 3) Bias. As example, suppose that we have 1 electrode to take measures and 1 referential electrode. And we are using one more electrode connected to GND. We have a measurement that is fine. But we are not using the Bias electrode. How should be the measurement done correctly? We tryied using the Bias Electrode instead of the GND electrode, but we cant get the signal. We have set CONFIG3 = ECh and BiasSens = 01h. Is there something more that we have to set? 4) Active electrodes. We know that in datasheet (page 68) says that the ADS1299 it does not need active electrodes. The questions are, is not recommended? Is not needed to measure some basic signals? Or you dont know or its a matter of further investigation if using an active electrode (buffer or preamplifier) could obtain a better signal. Well, thank you for reading. Regards. Santillan Brian.-

Thank you. Even after reading the datasheet that wasn't clear. If the digital I/O had a separate supply this device would be even more useful. 5V analog. 2.5 or 3.3V digital. Scott

Forum Post: RE: ADS127L01: How to control the ADC?

Dear Alexander, Thank you for your advice! Following your suggestion, I have changed the configuration and checked the /DRDY, with CLK provided and START pulled high. I found that /DRDY pulses using an oscilloscope. It seems that the ADC is working (not damaged). However, I still get constant numbers from the ADC. I'm using SPI mode to communicate. When I write (0,0,0,0), the return is (0,0,0,0) When I write (18,0,0,0), the return is always (0,127,128,0), no matter which voltage is provided to the AINP of the ADC. (AINN is grounded). (18 = 0001 0010, a command to read the most recent data.) During the experiment START was pulled high, CS was pulled low, CLK = 10 MHz and SCLK = 100 kHz. I will check if all the connections to the ADC are right. Anyway, thank you for your help.

Kato-san, Interesting... I am still trying to figure out why this is happening. I have some logic analyzer screen shots. one is using the EVM, and one is with our new test board. in both cases the I2C commands are being sent by PPC "I2C Master" in Fast mode. But you can see that one of them can successfully read Register 1, without reset. my sequence was # Write 0x0F to reg 1. w e0 01 0F #write 0x03 to register 3 w e0 03 03 # read back register 3 to confirm write r e0 03 01 # read back register 1 to confirm write r e0 01 01 # read back register 3 to confirm no reset. r e0 03 01 This first image is using the EVM, and I am able to read back register 3 the first time, but reading register 1 resets the device. The image below shows the Test board, This functions perfectly. I can read Register 1 and it doesn't reset the device. The only difference I see is the wait state in the repeated start condition, but I wouldn't expect that to be a problem. I am unable to find past occurrences of this problem in our system, which I admit surprised me. I will continue to look into this. best regards, -Steve Wilson

Forum Post: DAC7565: External reference timing

Part Number: DAC7565 Dear Team, My customer needs a DAC with 1.8V logic level for their new project and they picked up DAC7565 . They would like to supply an external reference voltage for the device, but datasheet states that internal reference should be turned off through SPI. It states internal and external references should not be supplied at the same time. The question is that is it OK to supply if they supply the external supply immediately after the device is powered on and then turn off the internal reference. In this case, both will be active for very short period of time. or should they turn off the internal supply first before supplying the external reference? By the way, any other device with 12-bit SPI interface and 1.8V logic capability is also welcome. Please feel free to offer an alternative. Best Regards, Caglar
