I agree, the issue that you are seeing doesn't appear to be related to your VM.
The GUI automatically installs the necessary drivers. It should not be necessary to install drivers through the device manager.
On your windows machine, please uninstall any existing LDC drivers and GUI. Following a windows re-boot, please try reinstalling the latest GUI (1.041 from www.ti.com/ldc). Does the GUI install kit report an error during driver installation?
Please also confirm which windows version you are using on your PC.
