Forum Post: SPI with CSB tied low permanently?

Is it possible to run the LDC1000 SPI by routing the CSB pin to GND.

This means the device would be always selected, which is ok because it is the only device in my design.

From the manual I see that when CSB is kept low, and SCLK continues, it is running in extended SPI mode meaning, that the adress is incremented automatically.

But what happens when CSB is always low and the there is no falling edge at all, how do the LDC start, take the first 8 bit as adress and then continue in extended mode, or does it start at default adress and run in extended mode at once? E.g. I could sync up to the default value of 0x80 in register 0.

Thank,

steve
