I'd like to use ADS1118 for both slow-varying thermocouple sensors (configured differential 0.256V FSR) and faster 0-3V position sensors (single-ended 4.096V FSR). In my evaluation tests, however, I have seen that A/D converter response is pretty low (that is internal digital filter is quite "heavy") - namely some seconds (!) for 0-to-3V "step response". Is it true? (I got the same slow response both at low/high data rates, and both in single/continuos operating modes.) This filtering/response can be appropriate for high precision inputs, but it results indeed very low for general purpose (analog) applications. Questions: - Is there a way to speed up response time? - Isn't it possible to disable internal digital filtering? - Is there any other pin-to-pin converter with fast response (no/wider filter)?
