Forum Post: DAC37J82: External voltage reference for EXTIO pin?

Part Number: DAC37J82 Tool/software: I am interested in improving the gain drift of the DAC37J82 by using a low noise, low drift external voltage reference. The datasheet gives some hints: Gain drift drops from ±30 ppm/°C to ±15 ppm/°C "with external reference". But, the specified V_EXTIO Input voltage range has a max value of 1 V (typ 0.9 V). The lowest voltage, low tempco voltage reference from TI is the REF7012, but that generates 1.25V (exceeding the 1.0V max). Other venders similarly are limited to 1.25V and above. My question is: can I safely use the REF7012 with 1.25V applied to the EXTIO pin, but compensate by increasing RBIAS to 2.67 kΩ to keep the full scale output current at 30 mA? And, if not, does TI have *any* reference design or suggestion for how to achieve the spec sheet claim for Gain drift of ±15 ppm/°C "with external reference"? Thanks, --Matt
