Hi Joannes,
You can only read and write registers with the Start pin high. The Start pin acts as a power down for most of the internal circuitry. With Start low, you can issue certain commands such as RDATAC, SDATAC and RDATA. The reading and writing of registers is not included and requires that Start is high.
