Hi Dafydd,
Yes, I want ato be able to accept a S/PDIF signal or an I2S signal independently. I need whatever data is coming in to slave to my DAC clocks.
The DACs I am looking at have a serial data, serial bit clock and word clock inputs with right-justified digital audio format - no master clock needed.
I have a master clock, but it is only for the I2S signal. It is completely independent of the S/PDIF signal.
That being the case it sounds like the SRC4392 may be the better option for my needs?
I have used the DIR9001 in the past - it is a great sounding S/PDIF interface but only goes to 96KHz. I believe the SRC4392 allows 192KHz or more? Not sure if the jitter levels are as low as the DIR9001 though.
It sounds like the DIX4192 will not allow me to switch back and forth between my I2S input and my S/PDIF input unless I use a microcontroller such as the MSP430? Is this correct? There is no way to simply switch between the two with a HIGH/LOW manual toggle switch?
