Hello, There was a complicated situation which lead to this happening in DAC8760 - in short, this behavior was not intended so this is essentially a bug. Once becoming aware of the behavior, we updated the datasheet accordingly for transparency to our customers. Meanwhile DAC8771 was very intentionally designed with the proper expected behavior on the SPI interface to use the CS / LATCH pin to effectively gate the input shift register. Having become aware of the behavior on DAC8760 , we were very careful about this on DAC8771 . As far as I know there are no undocumented issues with the DAC8771 - so you can trust the datasheet.
