Forum Post: ADS1672 VREF

Hello,

I am testing the ADS1672EVM and i found the datasheet shows that the typical VREF input is 3.0V. We have an application that needs a reference of 4.096V, therefore I tried to removed and replaced the VREF (U1) on the EVM board from REF5030 to REF5040. I was just trying my luck. It turned out that the board works correctly.

I input a 1.5V battery at P3 pin 1 and pin 2, and set the ADC Pro software to Low Latency Filter, Single Cycle Settling, Data Rate Bit:00, 2048 samples/block size,  Codes/bin:10. VDD=The ADC shows the following results:

Code (Mean): 3151275.77 which translates to 1.53V = 4.096V * 3151275.77 / (2^23 - 1).

Noise Free Bits: 17.52 (Reasonable and within our requirement)

ENOB: 20.24

Based on the above results, do you think I can continue to use the above reference setting?

Please advise.

Tandi
