I've built a straight-forward prototype src, using the 4392 to interface audio at sample rates of up to 192KHz, to digital audio Peak Program Meters that operate at a maximum Fs of 96KHz. All seems to operate as one would expect with very small (0.01-0.04dBFS) changes in measured level, when fed with tones generated using a digital audio analyzer. However, in the studios, where our mastering engineers are always exploring the ragged edge, they note that no matter how much they push the levels, the PPM meter never indicates digital overs (detected by n-modulo counting of successive full-scale samples).
So my question is, what does the SRC4392 when it's presented with consecutive full scale (either maxima or minima) samples?
can I get them back so the red, don't make it any louder lights, come back on?
thanks.
