mono processing would have been ok, but even then the limit would be 256 taps, which is still to small. I did not know, that the data memory is the bottleneck. Which products would you recommend for 1000 taps or even more (having 4000-5000 FIR taps with a single DSP would be nice). The chip should be able to output I2S data streams.
