Can you provide some detail on how you have the ADS8556 setup, perhaps send along a schematic? In hardware mode, you do not need to configure any registers to read data from the six input channels. If you are running the device in software mode, the default state has channel pairs A, B and C disabled (see Table 3, page 29 of the data sheet).
